Aged mandarin peel โ€” sun-dried, then cave-stored for years until the citrus oils mellow into something complex, warming, and unlike anything else.

How do you use it?

Brew a strip in hot water as tea, steep it with Pu'er, add it to soups, or use it as a flavouring. The older it is, the deeper the flavour.

Why aged citrus peel?

A flavour that only time can build.

Fresh mandarin peel is bitter and astringent. But leave it to dry and age in a cave for three, five, or ten years โ€” and something remarkable happens. The oils concentrate. The bitterness fades. What remains is a complex, warming, slightly sweet flavour with notes of dried fruit, earth, and spice.

In Guangdong, aged chenpi has been prized for centuries โ€” in traditional medicine, in cooking, and brewed simply as tea. The older the peel, the rarer and more valued it becomes. Our 15-year vintage is truly uncommon.

Think of it the way a wine drinker thinks about a great vintage. Patience is the ingredient.

Our story

Four generations.
One county.

Tangaroma is a family business in Xinhui, Guangdong โ€” the only place in the world where authentic Xinhui chenpi can be produced. Our orchard, drying yards, and ageing cellars have been in the same family since 1989.

We grow our own mandarins, peel them by hand, dry them on bamboo trays under the Guangdong sun, and age them in our own cave cellars. There is no middleman between the tree and your cup.
