Our story · 1989–present

Three generations, one corner of the world.

Our family has grown, sun-dried, and aged Xinhui chenpi in Guangdong since 1989. 35+ years of one cultivar, one place, one slow practice.

"Xinhui-local seed. Locally cultivated. Locally aged. Nothing else."

— Family principle, three generations
Single origin

The four sub-regions of Xinhui.

Authentic Xinhui chenpi carries protected geographical-indication status. Within Xinhui, four small sub-regions are recognized as the historical core. Our family sources from all four — and labels every batch by the village it came from.

梅江

Meijiang

Aromatic depth that rewards long aging. Contributes to our older chenpi vintages and our rare old-tree reserves.

东甲

Dongjia

One of the four classical chenpi tribute villages. Renowned for balanced sweetness in long-aged peel.

天马

Tianma

Source of our aged chenpi, Xiaoqinggan, and Zodiac Dahonggan Pu'er. The most full-bodied profile in our catalog.

三江

Sanjiang

A counterpoint to Tianma — old-growth orchards contributing to selected single-origin chenpi releases.

Mandarin on the tree at our Xinhui orchard
The cultivar

A single citrus that grows nowhere else.

The mandarin behind authentic chenpi — Citrus reticulata 'Chachi' — is a small heritage cultivar found only in Xinhui's Pearl River Delta soil. The subtropical humidity, the mineral profile, the cool winter — none of it transplants. Peels grown elsewhere don't develop the same chemistry, no matter how long they age.

We've never planted a tree outside Xinhui. We never will.

Sun-dried chenpi peels on bamboo trays at our Xinhui facility
The practice

Picked by hand. Sun-dried. Aged on shelves.

In autumn, our family and growers hand-pick the fruit by basket. The mandarin is peeled in three sections following the traditional Xinhui pattern, then laid on woven bamboo trays under open sun.

After initial drying, peels move to our pure-dry warehouses, where they're inspected, turned, and re-sorted year after year. A 10-year peel has been touched dozens of times since it left the orchard. This is craft work at production scale.
